You are either open to it, or you are not. Either way, your choice.

One of my most favorite sayings is "you are getting what you are getting, because you are doing what you are doing"

Just a quick thank you to Robert for his latest work. I find it inspiring. Of course, I would, because I have been a student of Roberts since 2008. I have attended 5 or 6 of his workshops in Scottsdale, and read most all of his books, over those years. Today I am a free man(at 57, not a spring chicken), with a free family. When I first became engaged in the Rich Dad philosophy, I was buried in debt, some good, but mostly bad, and had no idea how I would ever be able to retire, but today with Rich Dad and Roberts help, I am happy to report that I now have about 10 times more debt - but it is all good debt. What makes it good debt, is it all pays for itself(cash flow deals and businesses), and it pays me and my family too. 16 projects and counting. Who knows what 2011 will bring, but we have already surpassed what we accomplished in 2010 - and 2010 was a fantastic year, and it is only APRIL! Thanks Robert and the whole Rich Dad company. I can never repay you, but I can pass it on.

To those that cannot bring themselves to accept these teachings, or reject them as "won't work for me", or "B.S." or whatever, I am going to pass on to you the most important thing you will ever hear - and I learned it from a lifetime of learning. It goes something like this: "if you think it won't work for you, or if you think it will, you are right!(author unknown to me - but this theory is proven every day by me, and you, and everyone else)(by the way this also applies to everything in life - another incredibly liberating truth not taught in schools)

Embrace life, and learning, and growth. I encourage you to CHOOSE to BE a learner, to CHOOSE to DO what needs doing in light of your new knowledge, and to CHOOSE to HAVE peace, joy, and love in your life. Robert likes to say that he chooses to be rich, and he makes that choice every day. I say the same thing about happiness. I am happy, and I chose to be happy every day. Neither is a goal, or a destination. Both are choices. Both are a choice of who we are. And we all make those choices every day, one way or another.

Our choices either move us toward what we want, or they move us away. Which way are your choices taking you? Choose wisely!

The Unfair Advantage of Compensation

I've read most of Robert Kiyosaki's books. One by one, they connect the dots to help me understand what financial literacy really means to me on an individual level. What this book includes that others do not is the Unfair Advantage of Compensation, in particular, leveraging the power of compounding learning. For those of us who beat ourselves up as "late bloomers", this is a revelation!

Repetition is one of the keys to success

I agree with the low star reviewers that say there is not much new here. I am a huge Robert Kiyosaki fan but I can not rate this book above 3 stars.

I have read the entire Rich Dad series and while there is value in repetition some of his books are head and shoulders above the rest while others have a "time for another book" feel to them. This book is in the 2nd category.

Kiyosaki has a way of writing that really does suck you in and makes for an enjoyable read on what could easily be very dry and boring subjects. He opens this book with a metaphor about hunting monkeys who cant let go of fruits and nuts. The comparison is to people (employees) who can not let go of the old world and now out of date ideas that we have all grown up with.

Without a doubt this is important information to read, know, and understand.

My feeling is the value of this book is in the repetition.

If you are a Rich Dad fan and have read Rich Dad Poor Dad, Cashflow Quadrant, and Conspiracy of the Rich, you can safely skip this one.

If you are new to Rich Dad and have not read the earlier works you might get more value.

At the Rich Dad Forum a couple of years ago Kim Kiyosaki revealed that Rich Dad Poor Dad was originally meant to be a pamphlet to promote the Cashflow 101 board games. Many of the earlier books emphasize the importance of getting and playing the Cashflow 101 game.

In this book Robert seems more interested in promoting the Rich Dad Education classes and Coaching programs than in really offering any new information.

On the other hand, for $10 and the couple of hours it takes to read this book you will be reminded of the core Rich Dad philosophy.

So, I give Unfair Advantage a mixed review.

Again, this will have more value to you if you are a Rich Dad newbie. Veterans can safely skip it or borrow a copy.

Disappointing

Up until this book I've loved the series but I found Cassie hard to like largely due to the writing. The writing meant she was described repeatedly as cold and unemotional instead of the reader seeing it. The writing felt less than the other books. It was very rushed at the end and therefore unsatisfying. It gets two stars because of the glimpses into my favourite characters from the series.

Totally heartwrenching...in a good way

Wow...this was difficult to read sometimes. Not a bad thing just that Cassie's been through so much in her life. Bad stuff from her childhood which is totally linked with Brighton and Dennison being held captive in the same facility. Even worse is her old clan was so backwoods and she was treated like dirt and even from her deceased mate Jake. I just felt for her. She really was broken. Hayden didnt want anything to do with her at all! Matt from the Gray Backs wanted him to take his sister on as a mate to protect her from being forced to mate her alpha. From little time he's spent with her...he kinda feels bad for her but he's still not wanting a mate. Shes wanting a mate for protection and safety. Sex only. No emotional ties. Not even wanting to have sex face to face. Always away. Its just terrible and to be honest he is speechless and kinda freaked. LOL. He witnesses how truly bad off she is...that was a hard part to read. Not because of what was happening just how she acted and what she said. How she has coped for years using rough meaningless sex without touching to "deal" with her demons. Hayden isnt having it and refuses her sex which she desperately wants to get her through to her. He forces the mating when she threatens to find another to sate her needs. He bites her lol. I mean that was kinda bad but he really didnt have any choice. He didnt want that for her so he mated her. Shes stuck with him now and by God he was gonna help her! He really did though. She starts to feel and shes totally scared and freaks and panics. We kinda meet a new character in book 6. Kong..which yes he is a gorilla shifter. He fights Drew at book 6. Hayden and Kong are friends and when Cassie runs off he sorta encourages her to stay and be with Hayden because he loves her. Matt too...Matt's not who we think he is. I am learning that more and more. This was such a great read. Made me laugh and cry. :) I'm sad its the end of the Saw Bears BUT there are more spin-offs...yea!

I'm sad to see this series end

I'm sad to see this series end. All the shifters are happily mated--except Haydan, the last and the most persistent he would never claim a mate. However, he is loyal and when a Greyback calls in a favor it's a dozy. Claim his adopted sister. She needs protection and the Ashe Crew is just the place. Haydan gives a fast no, until Cassie proves to be even more persistent. She says they'll have the perfect relationship, as his mate she'll be protected. He won't need to worry about mate hunting and will have the friend/mate with benefits and none of the sticky emotions. After all she's keeping plenty of those hidden inside and shares with no one.

Something about her and her strength with hidden undertones gets to him and he seems to accept, taking her towards home. She's even more broken than he thought and his bear and the man are pressed to help.

Neither ever dreamed they could heal and become a real mated pair. The Ashe Crew accepts her as she is, the woman befriend her and the guys treat her just as the other women and tease, trash talk, pull her into their competitions, something she has never had--acceptance.

Her ridged control is tested and begins to soften--Haydan sees and remains strong helping as only something with super strength of the emotional kind can do.

This is a touching story and we see all of the other mated couples and get to enjoy this visit into their lives. A satisfying end, and yet a sad one. I feels as if I am leaving old friends.

A strong recommend. I am delighted to know that Cassie's brother Matt will have his own story. After reading Cassie's story, you know this cocky bed hopper is much more than he seems. I can't wait to find out. I'm ready to start that new bear series as soon as it is open.

About the Author

Jeanne H. Ballantine (far right) is University Professor of Sociology (emeriti) at Wright State University, a state university of about 17,000 students in Ohio. She has also taught at several 4-year colleges, including an “alternative” college and a traditionally Black college, and at international programs in universities abroad. She has been teaching introductory sociology for more than 30 years with a mission to introduce the uninitiated to the field and to help students see the usefulness and value in sociology. She has been active in the teaching movement, shaping curriculum, writing and presenting research on teaching, and offering workshops and consulting in regional, national, and international forums. She is a Fulbright Specialist Scholar and serves as a Departmental Resources Group consultant and evaluator. Jeanne has written several textbooks, all with the goal of reaching the student audience. As the original director of the Center for Teaching and Learning at Wright State University, she scoured the literature on student learning and served as a mentor to teachers in a wide variety of disciplines. Local, regional, and national organizations have honored her for her teaching and for her contributions to helping others become effective teachers. In 1986, the American Sociological Association’s Section on Undergraduate Education (now called the Section on Teaching and Learning in Sociology) recognized her with the Hans O. Mauksch Award for Distinguished Contributions to Teaching of Sociology. In 2004, she was honored by the American Sociological Association with its Distinguished Contributions to Teaching Award. In 2010, the North Central Sociological Association awarded her the J. Milton Yinger Award for Distinguished Career in Sociology.

Keith A. Roberts is Emeritus Professor of Sociology at Hanover College, a private liberal arts college of about 1,100 students in Indiana. He has been teaching introductory sociology for more than 30 years with a passion for active learning strategies and a focus on “deep learning” by students that transforms the way they see the world. Prior to teaching at Hanover, he taught at a 2-year regional campus of a large university. He has been active in the teaching movement, writing on teaching and serving as a consultant to sociology departments across the country in his capacity as a member of the American Sociological Association Departmental Resources Group. He has written a very popular textbook in the sociology of religion, has coauthored a book on writing in the undergraduate curriculum, and for 22 years ran an annual workshop for high school sociology teachers. He has chaired the Selection Committee for the SAGE Innovations and Professional Development Awards since the program’s inception. He has been honored for his teaching and teaching-related work at local, state, regional, and national levels. The American Sociological Association’s Section on Teaching and Learning awarded him the Hans O. Mauksch Award for Distinguished Contributions to Teaching of Sociology in 2000. He was honored with the American Sociological Association’s Distinguished Contributions to Teaching Award in 2010. In 2012, the North Central Sociological Association awarded Keith the J. Milton Yinger Award for Distinguished Career in Sociology.

Kathleen Odell Korgen is a professor of sociology at William Paterson University, a comprehensive university in Wayne, New Jersey. Kathleen has co-authored or co-edited numerous books that teach students to use the sociological tools they gain in their classes and to find inspiration from public sociologists and fellow sociology students. These books include The Engaged Sociologist: Connecting the Classroom to the Community, Sociologists in Action: Sociology, Social Change, and Social Justice and Sociologists in Action on Inequalities: Race, Class, Gender, and Sexuality. She has also written or edited the following books on race relations and racial identity: Race Policy and Multiracial Americans (forthcoming), Multiracial Americans and Social Class, Crossing the Racial Divide: Close Friendships Between Black and White Americans, and From Black to Biracial: Transforming Racial Identity Among Americans. Kathleen works as a consultant for other sociology departments as a member of the Departmental Resources Group of the American Sociological Association. She has received William Paterson University’s Award for Excellence in Scholarship/Creative Expression and the university’s Award for Excellence in Teaching.

Interesting read that is broken down easily to absorb

It's a really easy read; the authors considered their audiences and translated text language into relatable language. It is definitely not as dry as other texts and the little examples help a lot regarding understanding concepts and making sense of our lives. It's basically terminology for our everyday lives put into a textbook. Definitely an informative read. I had to read this for my sociology class and enjoyed it very much.

Reason for one star: I ordered a new book. When I received the book there was some residue on the cover that I cannot get off and some of the pages were stuck together. I don't care if the book has never been read, if I ordered a new book I am expecting pristine condition. This book was a rather pricey buy so I'm expecting no flaws. Amazon took care of my concerns and did phenomenally in resolving the issue. But this has been an issue I've been experiencing lately with Amazon's books. Stains on covers really irk me when I know I chose to pay more for "new" instead of "very good" condition.

About the Author

Hans Augusto Rey was born in Hamburg, Germany in 1898. As a child, he spent much of his free time in that city's famous Hagenbeck Zoo drawing animals. After serving in the army during World War I, he married Margret Rey and they moved to Montmartre for four years. The manuscript for the first Curious George books was one of the few items the Reys carried with them on their bicycles when they escaped from Paris in 1940. Eventually, they made their way to the United States, and Curious George was published in 1941. Curious George has been published in numerous languages. And many, many Curious George books have followed.

Great Board Book!

We love this book and read it often. We've had it several years now. Note this is a board book, which is much more durable for younger children. A great way to introduce Curious George to tots! I've read it multiple times and do not get tired of it. Curious George sees a guy going fishing, and it looks so interesting that he wants to also. He makes his own fishing pole and gets a little creative with the bait too! Very happy with the quality of the book, and very pleased with the story itself! The pictures were wonderful and the text was just the right amount and worded nicely for young children.

A Wonderful Little Book!

I purchased this little book as a companion gift to the Paz - Ready Set Learn fishing kit. I was surprised that it has a cardboard cover and pages. It's a very durable little book w/great illustrations. Our 3 yr old neighbor is thrilled w/it!

Not about Fishing...

While the book isn't wholly without merit, it probably is the Worst FISHING Book Ever.
It isn't really about fishing at all; and ultimately, it is about quitting.
In the end, George repurposes the fishing line as a kite string. Groan.
