About the Author
Bruce Sutherland holds a BMath from the University of Waterloo and a PhD in Physics from the University of Toronto where, under the supervision of W. R. Peltier, he ran numerical simulations of internal waves generated by shear instability. As a Research Associate working with P. F. Linden at the University of Cambridge, he helped develop the laboratory method known as the synthetic schlieren technique, which was applied to examine internal waves generated by turbulence. Now a Professor in the Departments of Physics and of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences, and an Adjunct Professor in Mathematical and Statistical Sciences, at the University of Alberta, he continues to develop theories and to run laboratory experiments and numerical simulations that examine the generation, propagation and breaking of internal gravity waves.

It is directly related to my research project and it includes many key aspects of the subject , additionally , compared with other books related to intermal waves , it is much more explanatory and easy to follow .End of chapter problems are worth solving and spending time on them

The best book on internal waves I have ever read

Dr. Sutherland's text on internal waves is sure to go down in history as one of the finest texts in the field. Well written with an approach that is engineering based in many ways. Physical concepts of wave dynamics are explained well.
