About the Author
Anthony Saunders is the John M. Schiff Professor of Finance and the Chair of the Department of Finance at the Stern School of Business at New York University.  Professor Saunders received his PhD from the London School of Economics and has taught both undergraduate and graduate level courses at NYU since 1978.  Throughout his academic career, his teaching and research have specialized in financial institutions and international banking.  He has served as a visiting professor all over the world, including INSEAD, the Stockholm School of Economics, and the University of Melbourne.  He is currently on the Executive Committee of the Salomon Center for the Study of Financial Institutions, NYU.
His research has been published in all the major money and banking and finance journals and in several books.  In addition, he has authored or co-authored several professional books, the most recent of which is Credit Risk Measurement: New Approaches to Value at Risk and Other Paradigms, John Wiley and Sons, New York, 1999.

Marcia Millon Cornett is the Rehn Professor of Business at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. She received her B.S. degree in Economics from Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois, and her M.B.A. and Ph.D. degrees in Finance from Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana. Dr. Cornett has written and published several articles in the areas of bank performance, bank regulation, and corporate finance. Articles authored by Dr. Cornett have appeared in such academic journals as the Journal of Finance, the Journal of Money, Credit and Banking, the Journal of Financial Economics, Financial Management, and the Journal of Banking & Finance. She served as an associate editor of Financial Management and is currently an associate editor for the Journal of Banking & Finance, Journal of Financial Services Research, FMA Online, the Multinational Finance Journal and the Review of Financial Economics. Dr. Cornett is currently a member of the Board of Directors, the Executive Committee, and the Finance Committee of the SIU Credit Union. Dr. Cornett has also taught at the University of Colorado, Boston College, and Southern Methodist University. She is a member of the Financial Management Association, the American Finance Association, and the Western Finance Association.

Great textbook.

As someone whose background is largely pure economics, finance can be confusing for me (many times the jargon of the field is similar but not quite the same as in economics). This book explains finance institutions and the way they manage risk very clearly and explicitly. It is the required text for my International Banking course. Great textbook.

A fantastic tool for understanding the abstrat method.

I really wanted this book but could not at this time afford the text purchase. When I discovered that it was available on disc I was elated. I initially thought the time frame for delivery was a bit long. Then it came in early; so very happy with that. It is a fantastic tool for anyone pursuing an understanding of the Abstract method thought in painting. I will admit though it is a bit heady at times. I am looking forward to volume 2.

Great Reference Material for a once unavailable rare book

Finally! Access to this treasure for all without the hefty fee of owning a rare book! I do actually own the original books also, but it sure is nice to be able to use this for reference without the guilt of cracking the spine of a prized book. You can search the entire thing for key terms. Great teaching aid. I hope his notes make it into the minds of young artists. Should be required for college level art classes.

The study is based on an examination of the Nijmegen Corpus, which consists of slightly over 130,000 words of running text. The structure of the NP is described basically in terms of four constituents: Determiner Premodifier Head Postmodifier No fewer than 2,430 occurrences of postmodifying clauses in NPs were analysed. A numerical coding scheme was designed, in which 26 different variable features were encoded, describing the properties the postmodifying clauses. These were processed and statistically analysed. The book discusses the methodology adopted and the results of the statistical analyses. Among the properties described are the function of NPs with postmodifying clauses, the structure of these NPs, the realisation and reference of the heads of these NPs, the specific types of postmodifying clause, the actual link words used, the clause patterns occurring in the postmodifying clauses, and the verb phrases in the postmodifying clauses.

The tasks are similar to what learners may encounters in real life, and some of them require oral negotiation during the problem-solving process. Unlike traditional structural-based and drill-focused grammar books, this material allows learners to practice and use grammar in a social context, so it is very suitable for EFL or ESL classrooms, but not for individual learning. About the Author
JOHN R. HILL is the President and founder of Futures Truth, a leading newsletter that analyzes and rates trading systems. He has been a frequent guest on CNBC and is a popular speaker at numerous investment conferences. Mr. Hill holds a master's degree in chemical engineering from Ohio State University.
GEORGE PRUITT is the Director of Research for Futures Truth. In addition, he has written for Futures magazine and has had research published by the Wall Street Journal and Barron's. Mr. Pruitt holds a B.S. in computer science from the University of North Carolina at Asheville.
LUNDY HILL began his career working on the floor of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange and the Chicago Board of Trade. He currently operates Commodity Research Institute, a futures brokerage company. Previously, he organized Stafford Trading Company, a registered CTA. Mr. Hill holds a degree in electrical and computer engineering from Clemson University.

The Ultimate Trading Guide: A must.

I have read The Ultimate Trading Guide by John Hill, George Pruitt and Lundy Hill with much pleasure. It is one of the best books I have read on the subject. It is clearly written and gives you the tools to design trading systems. It also is realistic and does not promise you The Holy Grail. I have learned a lot from it.

Good ideas marred by bad writing and sloppy editing

Since this book is written by someone who has reviewed hundreds (if not thousands) of trading systems, this book contains a lot of good, solid ideas about developing and trading robust trading systems. The fact that the author includes programming code for five core systems is a definite plus as well. For these reasons, I recommend this book to anyone seeking to develop and trading mechanical trading systems. You will definitely get your money's worth.

That being said, the writing in this book is bad and looks like it was slapped together. The discussion of a particular trading concept will shift from anecdote to statistic to general rule without rhyme or reason. There are a lot of typos, and some of the performance tables contain obvious errors (for example, the net profit divided by the number of trades doesn't come anywhere near to the average profit per trade). At one point, the authors say that they include the code for one of the systems discussed, and then don't include it. What the heck is going on? It's unforced errors like these which make me give it only three stars. And, of course, the goofy title.

You will find many gems from reading this book, but you'll have to sift through a lot of errors and bad writing in order to get to them.

Ultimate Rip-off

This is my first Amazon review, I just couldn't believe any reputable publisher or reviewer would embrace such a horrible book!
I am a self-taught trader of 15 years, I love reading traing books, there are currently more than 2,000 traing books in my trading library. Of all the books I have read, this is one of the worst!
The trading strategies/methods presented in this book were poorly researched and the presentation is even worse. Take the indicators section for example, the authors wrote approximately half a page about Commodity Channel Index, barely even scratched surface of this indicator, then presented a table showing their back test result on over 21 individual markets, the results indicated that 20 markets were negative and 1 was about break even. If you are unfamiliar with Commodity Channel Index indicator, you would be missled to believe it is a poor indicator based on their back testing results, but in fact, their testing was based on their incorrect interpretation of how CCI can be used as trading strategy. My onw real trading result using CCI indicator for the past two years averaged over 78% win-loss ratio; I pick CCI as an example because CCI happened to be the best indicator I know. There were just too much poorly researched information presentled in this book, it made my stomach sick when I was reading them, I couldn't help but to write this review, take it whichever way you prefer, my advice to you: run, don't walk, away from this ultimate rip-off!
